IV Certamen de Seminarios FDS de Hispanismo Internacional
La Fundación Duques de Soria de Ciencia y Cultura Hispánica (FDS), a través de su Observatorio Permanente del Hispanismo (OPH), anuncia la apertura de la 4ª edición de sus Seminarios de Hispanismo Internacional. Destinado a equipos de investigación con un proyecto concreto que estén contribuyendo de forma sobresaliente a la investigación, promoción y difusión del hispanismo internacional.
Los Seminarios seleccionados tendrán lugar en la sede de la Fundación Duques de Soria, en el Convento de La Merced de Soria, durante los días 1, 2 y 3 de julio de 2026.

SEEDS for Change Public Winter 2026 Series - No Neutral Ground: Community Health, Censorship, and Algorithmic Power
Friends of SEEDS for Change,
I write from El Salvador which is now branded as a site of the future: bitcoin corridors, data infrastructures, and algorithmic security. From here, it is no longer possible to pretend that community health, censorship, education, and technology belong to separate conversations. This is why I am convening the Winter 2026 Series: No Neutral Ground: Community Health, Censorship, and Algorithmic Power.
This 6-week public series begins with a refusal: there is no neutral ground in how knowledge is automated, governed, disciplined, or erased. We will approach censorship as a public health condition, examine AI as an extractive regime, and question “innovation” as a discipline that trains obedience while presenting itself as progress.

REGISTRO CREATIVO- CONVOCATORIA 2026- LANZAMIENTOS LIBROS
El Registro Creativo invita a sus afiliados y a los miembros de la Asociación Canadiense de Hispanistas (ACH) a participar en nuestra actividad anual de lanzamiento y de presentación de libros creativos y académicos. La sesión virtual de Lanzamiento y de Presentación de los Libros Creativos y Académicos tendrá lugar en el próximo Congreso de la Asociación Canadiense de Hispanistas (ACH), en la Universidad de Salamanca, Salamanca, España, del 20 al 22 de mayo de 2026.
Participación: Podrán participar todos lxs miembrxs de la ACH así como escritorxs, traductorxs, artistas y promotorxs culturales afiliadxs con el Registro Creativo.
Modos de participación:
Lanzamiento de libros creativos y académicos. Son los libros que se presentan por primera vez al público. Los participantes que estén en Salamanca presentarán en vivo.
Presentación de libros creativos y académicos. Son libros publicados en 2025-2026 o que ya han tenido presentaciones en otros lugares. Para que su libro aparezca en nuestra lista no se necesita participar en el Congreso.
Cómo se promueve el lanzamiento de su libro: Siguiendo nuestro modelo de difusión de las actividades de los participantes, el Registro Creativo organizará, con el material enviado por los autores, una Exposición Virtual, en la que se incluirá la información escrita y la imagen de la portada. La Galería Virtual formará parte de la página web del Registro Creativo. Pueden ver las galerías anteriores en el sitio web del Registro Creativo (https://www.hispanistas.ca/recursos).
Cómo participar: Enviar la siguiente información para cada publicación que como autorx, traductorx, o editorx quisiera presentar: Nombre del autor, título del libro, editorial, fecha. Enviar la imagen de la portada del libro (formato jpg). Agregar una breve bio-bibliografía, de no más de 150 palabras. Si hubiera un comentario en la contraportada o una reseña publicada, por favor agregar el texto o el enlace en este envío.
Toda correspondencia y envío de la información se hará por correo electrónico. Mandar:
la información sobre la publicación;
la bio-bibliografía de autor, y
una imagen de la portada digitalizada, en documentos adjuntos separados, a Sophie Lavoie, con copia a Toni Giménez Micó (correos abajo). Es preciso que en el ASUNTO (Subject) del correo electrónico se indique: "RC Libros 2025-26" para facilitarnos la recepción.

Latin American and Caribbean Cities and Societies
The Canadian Association for Latin American and Caribbean Studies (CALACS) invites you to participate in CALACS's annual meeting, to be held at the University of Calgary, May 6-9, 2026.
The challenges facing Latin American and Caribbean cities and societies in the twenty-first century are immense, but so too are the efforts of peoples of the region to create practices and policies that address them. The 2026 CALACS congress will open an interdisciplinary dialogue among scholars, practitioners, and non-profit organizations to examine creative responses, resilient practices, and forms of solidarity that have emerged over time within the region and across its diasporas in Canada and elsewhere. By centering these practices, we aim to move beyond deficit-based narratives toward an exploration of transformative possibilities.
We invite contributions that situate these dynamics within hemispheric interconnections, emphasizing the role of transnational networks and diasporic engagements in shaping innovative responses to systemic crises. In doing so, we ask: How do creative practices and solidarities challenge dominant narratives of crisis in Latin America and the Caribbean? In what ways do diasporic communities contribute to resilience and innovation across borders? How can interdisciplinary collaboration inform policy and social action for more equitable futures?
The deadline for proposals submission for panels, workshops, and individual papers is January 12th, 2026 through the webforms below.
Proposals (around 350 words) can be submitted in Spanish, English, French or Portuguese.

De parte del Registro Creativo (fundado por Nela Rio) de la Asociación Canadiense de Hispanistas, les comunicamos que la próxima EXPOSICIÓN-HOMENAJE MURAL Y VIRTUAL DE POESÍA Y ARTE, 2026 se realizará durante el LXII Congreso de la Asociación Canadiense de Hispanistas (ACH) del 20 al 22 de mayo de 2026 en la Universidad de Salamanca, España.
Este año, el Homenaje se dedica a la riqueza de la creación literaria y artística de hispano- y latinocanadienses. Aprovechando el público en Salamanca, queremos poner de relieve que la producción artística de hispano- y latinocanadienses en Canadá es imprescindible y tan diversa como lxs autorxs que la engendran.
TEMA: Algo que, al leer un poema o un texto, o ver una obra artística, de hispano- o latinocanadienses, les inspire, tanto para escribir un poema o un texto, como para realizar un trabajo artístico. Les animamos a juntar citas originales de lxs autorxs y/o las obras artísticas de lxs hispano- y latinocanadienses.
PARTICIPACIÓN: Poetas, escritorxs y artistas del Registro Creativo así como poetas y artistas españolxs e hispanoamericanxs aún no afiliados.
PLAZO DE RECEPCIÓN: antes del 31 de marzo 2026. ¡No esperen! Es absolutamente necesaria su colaboración para cumplir con los requisitos de la Convocatoria. Gracias por leer cuidadosamente.
MODO DE EXPOSICIÓN: Los poemas y las imágenes se imprimirán en el caso de que haya una exposición mural durante el Congreso de la ACH. La Exposición Virtual se hará con los poemas y las imágenes enviadas electrónicamente. Se publicarán en la Galería Virtual de Poesía y Arte del Registro Creativo (página web) para ser expuesta durante el Congreso, al mismo tiempo que la Exposición Mural. Después de la exposición, se les mandará a todos los participantes el enlace (URL) de la Galería Virtual.
MODALIDAD AUTORXS: Enviar un texto o un poema cuya extensión no sea superior a 30 versos (contando las líneas en blanco, imprescindible para la preparación de los poemas póster). Es posible que tengamos que recortar textos largos para los pósteres. Agregar una biobibliografía de 150 palabras, máximo. Mandar el texto y la biobibliografía, en el mismo adjunto. Poner en el Asunto (“Subject”): “Homenaje RC 2026.”
MODALIDAD ARTISTAS: Toda correspondencia y envío se hará por correo electrónico. Enviar una imagen digitalizada de cualquier forma de arte visual original. Medida: 150 a 300 dpi. Las imágenes en formato .gif o .jpeg. Máximo por imagen: 500kb. Agregar una biobibliografía de 150 palabras. Mandar en dos documentos adjuntos separados la imagen digitalizada y la biobibliografía. Poner en el Asunto (“Subject”): “Exposición Homenaje 2026-Imagen.”

Present Bodies in Disembodied States: Agency and Embodied Resistance Within Neoliberal and Oppressive Contexts

While this conference will be held in a hybrid mode, online presentation spots will be limited. Therefore, we strongly encourage in-person participation if possible.
The future is here, but nobody feels part of it. From the outsourcing of human cognition to AI, the rise of fascist ideology doubling down on subjugated groups, to the impending climate catastrophe, it seems as though the future will accommodate only a few. As neoliberal leaders continue to disembody states and weaken their welfare and educational institutions to accumulate capital into a handful, more people become dispossessed. In Dispossession: The Performative in the Political (2013), Athena Athanasiou and Judith Butler define dispossession as the process through which people lose land and community, ownership of their body, and are subjected to economical violence, biopolitical subjectivation, and precarity. In other words, larger groups of people across the globe are being dispossessed of their place in the future as autonomous and empowered agents. So, how is it possible to become present and regain agency? How can oppression, displacement, and dispossession be resisted? The purpose of this conference is to push forward the ideas, techniques, and mechanisms through which bodies can become present in increasingly disembodied states. We welcome submissions from a wide spectrum of social and political sciences, as well as philosophy, and literature. Can the tide be turned against environmental, economic, and social collapse? Can better futures still be created?
This conference seeks submissions involving issues of (dis)embodiment and embodied expression and resistance. We welcome proposals from diverse disciplines and areas of study. Possible topics include, but are not limited to the following:
- Technology and (dis)embodiment:
o Effects of technology and AI in academia and pedagogy;
o Social media writing in academic discourse spaces;
o The rise of post-truth, fake news, and radicalization;
o Loss of human agency in the technocene;
o Media literacy and agency.
- Multiculturality, multimedia and orality as embodied resistance:
o Indigenous, Non-Western, and alternative epistemologies;
o Speech and pragmatics;
o Linguistic supremacy and prestigious varieties in migration processes and language teaching and learning;
o Oral traditions as forms of community and embodied resistance;
o Imagining alternative futures through multimedia creation and storytelling;
o Literary practices as resistance and activism;
o Speculative and science fiction, dystopia/utopia, and the future.
- Neoliberalism, capital, and (dis)embodiment:
o The intersectionality of gender, age, race, and class in the resistance of neoliberal violence;
o Environmental collapse, the Anthropocene, and deep ecology;
o Patriarchal dimensions of neoliberal violence;
o The rise of fascist ideology, white supremacy, and technocracy;
o Feminist interventions in war theory, security studies, and transitional justice;
o Migration, displacement, and human rights violations.
- Community building and activism as embodied resistance:
o Grassroots activism and civic involvement in the reconstruction of communities;
o New forms of activism: social media, contemporary art, and youth-led resistance;
o Language conservation and revitalization efforts.
Title, abstract (250 words), and affiliation with a short biography of the speaker (100 words) should be sent through this form.
